Coconut Waikiki Hotel is situated in the center of Waikiki, a bustling neighborhood in Oahu, and across the Ala Wai Canal, boasting views of the beautiful waterway that runs through Honolulu.
Needless to say, we are next to all the best places to eat and drink with Hawaii being a melting pot of cultures and cuisines! From grab-and-go food, to casual and fancy restaurants, here are some of our favorite places for all types of food moods!
Tonkatsu Ginza Bairin

Duke’s Waikiki – a popular place on Waikiki Beach, take in the sights and sunsets, live music (on special nights) and enjoy delicious food + tiki vibe & umbrella drinks on the beach. This is one of our to-go beachfront places, and it never gets old!
Island Vintage Wine Bar – this cute wine bar located at the Royal Hawaiian Center, is a perfect spot to unwind with a little vino and farm-to-table ingredients. Make this your Pau Hana (happy hour) or dinner spot! From the creators of Island Vintage Coffee and Island Vintage Shave Ice!
Katsumidori Sushi – for sushi lovers! This restaurant offers Japanese cuisine which harmonizes local Hawaiian ingredients and Japanese seasonal ingredients by Executive Chef, Noboru Nagumo.
Marukame Udon Waikiki – don’t let the line out the door deter you from eating here! If you love udon and japanese fare, stop by and enjoy their handmade udon, savory bowls, salads, and a variety of tempura menu items!
natuRe waikiki – new to the Waikiki scene, this sustainability-focused restaurant that supports local farming always uses organic ingredients. Vegan menu available for dietary restrictions – a 30% plant-based menu! Reservations recommended. Read more about their Regeneration mission here.
Noi Thai – authentic Thai cuisine on the island that makes you come back for more! Their extensive menu includes Thai favorites, signature dishes, happy hour, and boasts vegetarian items, along with specialty cocktails, beer + wine and sake.
Mac 24/7 – swing by here for a hearty breakfast to fuel your day! Love pancakes? Try their Pancake Challenge – eat 5lb of pancake within 90 mins!
Paia Fish Market Waikiki
Paia Fish Market Waikiki – an iconic Maui-based restaurant, if you’re craving seafood, stop by and order yourself a fish plate (portions are very generous). All fish is local, fresh and cooked to perfection!
Tonkatsu Ginza Bairin – aloha to authentic Japanese cuisine! This marks the first of the Ginza Bairin restaurants to open outside of Asia. Try their world-famous Tonkatsu – check out their menu of offerings here. Reservations recommended! Available for dine-in or take-out!
Upstairs Waikīkī – a new restaurant in Waikiki meets sake bar! We’ve heard nothing but positive reviews about this place – check out their Day and Night menu! This new restaurant has special dishes created by the great chefs at Sushisho and Hachibei and a music bar with a quality selection of Japanese sake.

Musubi & Bento IYASUME – With several locations throughout Waikiki – this small grab-and-go shop offers 23 kinds of SPAM® Musubi options and small bento boxes, a perfect snack for the beach and snacks for late night (be sure to stock up)!

Banan Hawaii – Banana soft-serve, anyone? This cute little shack is situated steps from Waikiki Beach, the perfect cooling treat for a hot, tropical day! A 9-minute walk from our hotel.
Hawaii Aroma Café – nothing beats a fresh cup of coffee to kick-start your day in HawaiI! Roasted with aloha, this local grindz serving up Hawaiian coffee and a hearty menu that includes speciality waffles, acai bowls, sandwiches and drink menu that includes smoothies and cocktails.
Kona Coffee Purveyors | b patisserie – a favorite spot amongst locals and visitors, pick up a sweet pastry (OMG the chocolate chip cookies and special island-flavored pastries) and cup of coffee to keep you fueled for the day! Early risers? Be sure to get there before it opens at 7:00AM, expect a line, but it’s worth the short wait!
Island Vintage Shave Ice – you can’t go wrong with Shave Ice anywhere! One of our favorite spots is Island Vintage Shave Ice, a food-stand located right on Kalakaua Avenue in front of Royal Hawaiian Center, serving up the best ice-based dessert with all the fixings and flavors!
Liliha Bakery – this new location finally made its way to Waikiki! Liliha Bakery, home to the original Coco Puff, Poi Mochi Donuts, and Chantilly Cake, is the oldest bakery in Hawaii and opened a new spot at the International Market Place! Too many items to choose from and not enough time to eat everything – view their breakfast, lunch and dinner menu here.
Magnolia Ice Cream – a sweet, cold island treat, Magnolia Ice Cream is a Philippine ice-cream brand is a must-visit for an island experience that serves a variety of ice cream flavors including ube, pandan, thai thai, memorable desserts like Halo Halo and other tropical goodness!
